Blogging is important for a photography business?! Writing has never been a strength of mine so imagine the horror when I learned how important blogging was! So many thoughts ran through my head. What would I write about? Would anyone even read it? Will it sound like a second grader wrote it? The answers to all those questions are still to be determined. But here I am, 28 years old, writing my first ever blog post!

I figure the best way to start a blog (and the least intimidating way) is to tell you a little bit about me. I’m a very simple person and I love lists. So here is a list of 10 things about me!

1. I have 7 siblings and I am the middle child. Yes you read that right, there are 8 of us! And you know what they say about middle children…the only way they get attention is through noise volume!
2. I am from Idaho so naturally I love potatoes! (I currently live in Wisconsin and have realized that the only thing most people know about Idaho is that potatoes grow there)
3. I LOVE being outside. I love mountains, lakes, camping, and wildlife.
4. I bought my first “real camera” so I could take pictures on my nature adventures. When I bought my camera I lived near 2 National Parks (Yellowstone and Teton) and loved going there to do wildlife photography.
5. I’m probably one of the few people who would say they loved the year 2020. But I really did love it, that’s the year I met and married my best friend! And yes we did meet and get married the same year, why wait when you find your person?!
6. I’d consider myself a jack of all trades, master of none. I like a lot of different things such as watercoloring, dirt bikes, backpacking, hiking, riding horses, snowboarding, and playing pretty much any sport. But don’t ask me too many questions on any of those topics because there’s a good chance I won’t know the answer!
7. I love traveling! I wish I could travel more often because I have a pretty long list of places I want to go. Growing up my big dream was Africa, so in 2016 I went to Kenya to volunteer in an orphanage for 6 weeks and let’s just say I’m obsessed! I could talk for hours about all the experiences I had there. I got some pretty sweet box braids before I came home, LOVED those braids!!
8. Growing up I always wanted to be a mom. July 2024 I had my first baby and have absolutely loved the last 2 years with my daughter. In a couple months, baby #2 will join our family and we are all so excited! My toddler is already obsessed with her sister!
9. Sweat pants are my favorite clothing item and a messy bun is my signature hairstyle.
10. I love making friends! My husband always laughs when I tell him about a new friend I met. I’ve met a handful of friends in very non traditional ways. Someone knocking on my apartment door by accident, sitting next to someone in an airport terminal while waiting for a flight, or even while picking up an item from a Facebook marketplace find at a strangers house! (Bonus fact, I LOVE finding a good deal on Facebook marketplace!)

Yay! I made it through my first blog post! And you made it through too! I am still learning so much about photography. My dream is to keep growing my business and meet lots of new friends along the way. I don’t know how often I’ll be writing blog posts but I hope you stick around to read more!
